A Ghost Walker's Love Story by Liza O'Connor

A Ghost Walker’s
Love Story
First, allow me share what a Ghost Walker is.
Ghost walkers are a much higher skilled level than the normal people who experience out of body experiences. They can will molecules into what appears to be a clothed, or naked human body, depending on what they wish to do. Most can lift small objects, such as a cell phone and use it as well as any normal human. The strongest ghost walkers can even port heavy items over long distances by their ability to absorb massive amounts of molecules and lock them into place for long durations.

If a ghost walker wishes to focus intense strength on another person’s body, she or he can cause bones to shatter.

If a ghost walker wants to make love to a normal human, she or he will pull more molecules so the body both looks and feels like a human body down to creating nerve-endings, so they can feel. However, retaining such a form for long isn’t easy. Thus, the typical ghost walkers tend towards ‘quickies’. Some are known to be amazingly accurate in the detail, but often larger, when it comes to certain body parts.

Ghost walkers are NOT ghosts. They are living, breathing humans who can leave their bodies.
However, there is risk in doing so. If a neighbor happened to come upon the body of a ghost walker, they might believe they are dead and call an ambulance. This would NOT be good. It is, in fact, the biggest fear that a ghost walker has.

BLURB
Alice is a ghost walker: an ordinary person capable of separating her soul from her body. Unlike her fellow ghost walkers, she uses her ability trying to help protect the world from terrorists and madmen. Finding an FBI agent that she trusts, she supplies the information needed to stop several atrocities from occurring.
She believes she is safe from discovery. However, agent Jack Callaghan finds her with clever sleuthing and romances her with pure intent. Unfortunately, their unexpected union brings wrath down upon them from all sides. Her fellow ghost walkers believe she has betrayed their code of secrecy; the director and fellow agents question Jack’s commitment to the agency, and want Alice brought in so they can discover how she disappears at will. In this maelstrom of betrayals, Alice uncovers the truth about the three men who claim to love her and discovers which one holds true.
Warning: Alice is so dedicated to stopping terrorists that she will let nothing get in her way, not even when she discovers her body is being used against her will. Since she's not in her body when this happens, saving lives remains far more important!https://ssl.gstatic.com/ui/v1/icons/mail/images/cleardot.gif

EXCERPT
Blowing up Yankee Stadium
Mohammed Hussain was greatly disturbed as he descended the Yankee’s stadium steps and spied a pretty blonde woman next to his seat. He had a fondness for American blondes.
When he sat down, she smiled at him. Not a sexual smile, but a smile of friendship, letting him know that she did not mind sitting next to a Muslim after 9/11. He did not return her smile. It angered him that she must die. Had he only met this woman a year before, he might not be sitting here today, wrapped in explosives. However, he had not met anyone so gentle and accepting. Instead, the racial prejudice and mistrust he received turned him against Americans and eventually led him to volunteer to be a martyr for his people.
His hand clasped the ripcord that would detonate the plastic explosives embedded in the prostheses potbelly he wore. Security had patted him down, but only briskly on the sides. No one would even think about prodding into a man’s fat belly. The only way they could have known he carried explosives was if they noticed the cord that poked from the skin near his hip bone, but that was safely hidden beneath his stretch pants.
His attention returned to the woman. She held out her popcorn to share. He shook his head and admired her sky-blue eyes. Perhaps he could wait until she stepped away to the restroom. Then, if Allah allowed, she might be spared. No specific time had been set for him to strike against the infidels. He saw no reason to do it during the anthem. The strike would be just as powerful later in the game. Nothing could stop the inevitable now. If someone approached, he would pull the cord, but unless that happened, he would wait and see if the girl would leave.
As the starting time neared, the stadium filled to capacity.
Yes…many will die today, and fear will strike at the heart of America once again. No longer will they feel safe: not at their work, not at their play.

Lies & Deceit, The Extraordinary Life of Amy Winston, @Liza0Connor

LIES & DECEIT
THE EXTRAORDINARY LIFE OF AMY WINSTON
BOOK 3

BLURB
Despite her lack of dowry and cloudy past, Amy Winston becomes one of the most sought-after young ladies in the London marriage mart. Some desire her for her beauty and charm while others appreciate her unique skills of seeing with her mind, healing with her hands, and disappearing in plain sight. By her choice of husbands, she secures her safety. However, her marriage almost brings the English Parliament to its knees.
***

While the Scotland Yard Inspector and Ann initially got off on the wrong foot, Ann now perceives him to be the finest inspector in Scotland Yard. Nor does his arrival at her home so early in the morning surprise her. In fact, she was most pleased with his arrival.

EXCERPT
Ann sipped her fourth cup of coffee when Dodson announced Inspector Yardrow wished to speak to her. She was pleased it was Yardrow.
She told Dodson to bring him into the breakfast room. When he arrived, she could tell he was not happy with the task he had been assigned.
“May I offer you coffee or tea, Inspector? It is very early to start your day.”
“I apologize for waking you so early.” He paused as he noticed Ann was fully dressed. “I would have come before this had I known you would rise so soon after a ball.”
“It’s been an unusual morning.” Ann sipped her tea and smiled benignly. “How may I help you?”
“At nine, I will return with a warrant to search the house for Amy Winston and return her to her legal guardian. My men will search all the rooms. I will instruct them to cause no damage and not to frighten the children. I come ahead so I may apologize in advance for this miscarriage of justice. Sadly, I could not convince my supervisor that I had sufficient evidence to charge Dupree with the murder of his wife. I wish there was something I could do, but if I refuse to perform this search, then another will do it in my place.”
“You are a good man and I would like to apologize for the threats I laid upon you the last time we met. I will see you at nine, at which time you will be informed Amy is missing and we do not know where she is.”
Yardrow sighed with what sounded like relief.
“I may be weeping so that you cannot understand half my words, but hopefully you will make out that Amy was abducted from her room and driven away in a carriage sometime in the night. I will, of course, insist you find her. You will do your best, for your efforts are not just for us, but for Dupree as well. But you will not find her until Dupree is no longer her guardian.”
“And when is that expected to be?”
“I hope in two or three weeks, but it is easy to underestimate that man. He is a mix of stupidity and cleverness, and the cleverness has taken me by surprise on many turns.”

Slammed by Liza O'Connor - 99 cents June 1-7

Slammed-Book One
of the Davy's Saga Series
is only 99c for this week.

How Liza became a bull riding fan.
When I broke up with the only decent boyfriend I ever had, I was shocked, stunned, and broken hearted. He told me he was interested in another woman, but he asked me to hang around until he decided which of us he liked the best. Needless to say, I wasn’t happy with men and certainly never planned to like one of them again after that fiasco.

So, I took up watching bull riding, just to watch the fellows get roughed up by bulls three nights in a row each week.

As time moved along and my heart healed, I continued watching bull riding because they were family now. Some I liked, some I adored, and some I loved to see trampled.

What can I say? Watching bull riding can be therapeutic after a painful break-up and enjoyable once you are healed as well.

Blurb

Davy Hill goes from obscurity to fame by riding the rankest bull alive. Coming from a life of poverty, the young cowboy expects his life to change for the better now that he’s a successful professional bull-rider. Yet, with every occurrence of good luck comes an equal dose of bad. He suffers a potentially career-ending injury, a string of betrayals, and much worse. Despite all the brutal slams he takes, he keeps getting up, because he’s a bull-rider and they never give up.

EXCERPT
Davy Hill climbed in the rodeo chute and straddled the massive red Brangus bull, Son of Sam—two thousand pounds of muscles and raging fury, and never ridden for eight seconds in forty-eight outings. Riders only lasted an average 1.8 seconds on this beast’s back. Then, to punish them for the audacity of attempting to ride him, the red bull would turn on the fallen rider and attack with its twelve-inch long horns.

The owner had sawed off the tips, but that didn’t impede Son of Sam’s ability to dig beneath the breathless rider and toss him like a rag doll about the arena and then, for good measure, crash his sharp hooves on the rider’s limp body several times. He especially had a taste for attacking the heads of riders who wore helmets rather than hats. Beneath his two thousand pounds of energy, those helmets would crush like pumpkins, often giving the rider a career-ending concussion.

No one in the excited Guthrie, Oklahoma crowd expected anything different tonight. The only question in their minds was if Davy Hill would survive his encounter with Son of Sam to ride again. Many regretted he had pulled a potential ride to hell.

Arrival: Titan (Leaving Earth Series) by Liza O'Connor

A True dislike of Children

Captain Drake had given commands to his second to dump all the teens into space, only his Second never got the chance. Colonel Lancaster insisted the students provide their opinions on where they should land the ship.  Thus, their young geniuses’ deaths are delayed, since the captain cannot order them to be rounded up and toss into space while Colonel Lancaster sits beside him at the helm.
But why does he hate the teens?
It turns out the captain has a demon inside him, and the demon, which has taken over, hates the joy and happiness of children. In fact, their laughter causes him intense pain.

 Blurb
Dangers continue even as the crew of soldiers, scientists, and brilliant teens quantum leap to space near Titan.
Captain Drake has his own agenda, and it doesn’t include Colonel Lancaster, or the students being alive for much longer. Fortunately, the scientists and students are a formidable group to go against. The attempted takeover is stopped with only one death.

When Scarlett lands the ship on the north pole near the methane lake, they discover several sentient life forms. They also learn that the moon, Pan, is actually a ship called the Death Star, mining minerals in the outer rings of Saturn. Even more shocking—Jupiter is not a planet, but a disguised ‘eye in the sky’ watching over the mining interests of a superior sentient planet.

Excerpt
“Would you mind if I contact my scientists, so they might assist you in finding our landing site?”
Caesar huffed. “Do you think they are capable of providing any real help in this matter?”
“I am quite certain of it. These are brilliant scientists, even the kids.”
“Hold on! I don’t want the kids involved.”
“That’s not your say, Caesar. It’s mine. It is also my responsibility to ensure they behave. But when they give an excellent suggestion, and the other scientist and I agree, you will follow it. Treat them like adult crew members, because they are the reason we will succeed.”
“More likely the reason we will fail,” Drake grumbled.
“Just give them a chance, Caesar,” Lancaster softly, yet sternly, requested.
“All right, but on one condition. Stop calling me Caesar. You can call me Captain. You can call me Drake. You can even call me Captain Drake.”
Lancaster chuckled. “Drake it is. Now will you please open the com, so I can talk to my entire crew?”
“If you say ‘please’ to the kids, they are going to have you for lunch,” Drake warned.
“You’re going to have to share with me what sent you over the edge on teens. But right now, just open the com and prepare to be astounded.”
“I bet you a day’s ration of water they’ll be in hysterics,” Drake warned.

 Blurb for Destination
With Earth destined for a new ice-age, seven scientists and twenty-two brilliant teenagers are gathered in a compound, deep within a mountain. There they struggle to come together as a group and complete the projects needed for their survival in the inhospitable environment of Titan, one of Saturn’s moons. However, certain factions on Earth have no intention of letting Project Einstein succeed. Keeping the group alive and productive is the hardest task Colonel Lancaster and his soldiers have ever had, but they are determined to succeed no matter how well the saboteurs have planned. The continuation of the human race depends upon it.
Excerpt for Destination
A soldier entered the room. His expression was severe, and his hand rested on his gun. Tamara feared they had suddenly realized the color orange was a stupid differentiator.

He walked to the table and lifted the paper. Upon seeing her signature, he introduced himself as Colonel Lancaster. “Did you read it thoroughly?”

She nodded.

“Then you understand that I outrank you and you will do everything I say?”

He didn’t look much older than her. “How old are you?”

“That isn’t relevant to my question.”

Max interceded. “Colonel Lancaster’s age is irrelevant, Tam. Only his rank is of importance. He is the senior ranking officer at the facility, and thus is our commanding officer.”

Tam smiled at the thought of how painful those words must be for Max to say, although to his credit, he said them with great sincerity.

“Do you find something amusing?” Lancaster challenged her.

She stared at the young man. Despite his severe look and shaven head, he was not entirely unattractive. In a “penal code” way, he might be considered good looking. She tilted her head to one side. “I was just wondering what you were so hell-bent to command me to do.”

Lancaster frowned. “If the two of you will follow me. The others are waiting in the containment room.”
They entered a small lecture room with a platform at one end. Chairs filled the remainder of the room, and twelve loud, unruly teenagers occupied the back. In the far corner, behind the podium, stood a cluster of adults. They all stopped talking and stared at Max and Lancaster when they entered. Tam was pretty much ignored.

Lancaster ordered them all to take a seat as he walked to the podium. Max pointed Tam to a chair while he remained standing beside Lancaster. Lancaster reinforced their understanding of the contract they’d just signed. He emphasized the need for immediate and total obedience when he or his men gave them an order.

One of the teenage girls raised her hand, and Lancaster gave her a nod.

“Will any of your orders be for sex? Because you’re damn hot.”

The teenagers burst into laughter and hoots.

“Interrupt me again, and your mouth will be duct-taped for the remainder of the day. But as to your question: Neither my soldiers nor I will be ordering anyone to provide sexual favors of any kind. That being said, sex among the students will not be prohibited once you have received your medical clearance. Dr. Culp and Dr. Willows will provide each of you with an extensive health exam. You will cooperate fully,” he warned, and gave the kids and Tamara a warning glance before continuing.

Excerpt for Arrival
“If we are going to land on the north pole, this would be the appropriate action. But would you rather not land where the probe did. That land was very flat.”

Ben spoke up at once. “Beg your pardon, sir, but if you recall, based on the pictures, there were hills and the winds played havoc upon the probe.”

“But more importantly, we need to land very close to a methane lake, so we have the ability to create fuel, water, and oxygen at once. What we brought with us won’t last long. I know the gravity is only one-fourteenth of Earth’s, but that could still consume more fuel than we have if later we need to move for some reason. Landing on the north pole is our best bet to survive.”

Lancaster spoke, “Sounds logical, can I get feedback from my other scientists?”

Victor spoke up. “The majority agrees. Three of us would prefer the South Pole, given there is slightly more sun and it’s slightly warmer. However, that does make the winds stronger, and there is only one lake, which has never been tested. It is probably methane, but it could be some other liquid as well.”

“I like the warmer and more sun part,” Lancaster admitted.

Anthony spoke up. “Honestly, sir. I don’t think you’d be able to tell the difference between warm and cold on Titan. We’d freeze to death in either case within a second. So, in my opinion sunshine, nor temperature should be considered in the matter. Our critical need to survive is methane. We know for a fact that one of the lakes in the north pole is a methane lake.”
